The Miami Dolphins

Miami is sitting on the cusp each year now of being the best team ever or the worst team every for that week. Their record against winning teams and winning in the cold is severely bad. I think it comes down to the coach more than blaming Tua for every problem the Dolphins have but there is blame to always go around. Let’s see what the Dolphins brass cooked up with their first four picks in the draft and have a quick overview of their realistic future.
Pick 21, Chop Robinson (EDGE) was one of my absolute favorite players in this draft. He has a crazy first step and ability to bull rush too. I think conditioning will be in order for him and sharpening his ability to get off initial blocks if his first move does not work. Chop will make an impact early and often for Miami, a great pick to add to that room.
What helps a QB? A good line and at 55 Patrick Paul (OT) was selected to be Tua’s new best friend with Austin Jackson. Armstead is still there but with injury history and he is set to retire after this year it makes way for Paul to make an impact relatively quickly into his career. Paul is going to be a very good tackle in this league, at 6’ 7 that mountain of a man will stop people in their tracks and only get better.
Pick 120 may have turned some head but I like it, Jaylen Wright (RB) is a three down back. With a good room already it is clear that health is an issue and Miami will need a guy that can handle a work load. Wright was one of my top backs and thought he was going way higher than 120 but he landed in a good spot and a good opportunity to make some waves. Wright doesn’t have as many reps as some guys but that can be more valuable than not valuable for him and Miami.
The Edge Rusher room continues to get a rebuild with pick 158 Mohamed Kamara (EDGE). Kamara showed consistent work over his college career but the only knock I give him is he really didn’t go against any premier tackles. Nonetheless Kamara has presented a great track record and can only help this pass rusher room.
Miami needs to beat winning teams. They need to put themselves in the top tier with the talent they have. This draft can do a lot but its going to be up to planning and Tua. Overall I do think Miami made the right moves in the draft so they are getting a strong A in this year’s draft. I think the expectation for Miami with all those weapons is a super bowl. Me, I think they can get a playoff win if it’s at home but on the road in the cold they have shown nothing to move me.
