The Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs, what else can be said? They have undoubtedly the best QB in football, a top 2 tight end, a great defense now and a hall of fame coach in Andy Reid. Coming off a super bowl victory over a very good 49ers team it was time for the Chiefs to keep momentum and just like any dynasty they have to draft well to keep things cheaper, Let’s see the Chiefs first four picks and talk expectations for this year.
At pick 28 there was no surprise Chiefs took a receiver and on paper the fastest receiver ever in Xavier Worthy (WR). Getting a guy like Worthy is great for the Chiefs, he has the speed and is super shifty with his routes. The unfortunate thing is now the league has to deal with Mahomes having that guy on his team. Worthy will be making an impact come week one of the season.
Pick 63 is another easy get for the Chiefs, a real no brainer in Kingsley Suamataia (OT). The Chiefs had the 31st ranked run block by OT last year and the best way to keep your team humming is having a great rush attack. Suamataia is a raw type of guy with experience at RT and LT but he will be in the starting lineup eventually and it’ll be at LT.
With pick 131 Jared Wiley (TE) the Chiefs add a fourth TE to the roster and by the looks of Wiley he will be a guy that blocks and plays special teams. Wiley is a very large TE and might be used in goal line sets and possibly some jump balls with that 6’ 7 frame. Until the day Kelce calls it, any tight end will be playing behind him and having to earn their targets.
The 133rd pick Jaden Hicks (DB) seems to be a pick that is destined to be a depth piece for now. Hicks does have experience deep, in the box and the slot some upon contract talks with Justin Reid Hicks could be a viable option to keep cost low and money spent somewhere else. Hicks has a very good frame for in the box play and has had his fair share of tackles, getting his nose in there with the front seven.
Going offense for 5/7 of their picks, the Chiefs trust the defense they have and want to keep bolstering that offense to keep Mahomes happy and keep the team ascending. Worthy was the flashiest pick of the bunch and I think Suamataia is going to be a good player for them. That being said I would give the Chiefs a Comfortable B in this year’s draft. The expectation for the Chiefs will be a super bowl or bust as long as Mahomes is under center. I think they can be a three -peat team but I do see them losing in the super bowl or conference championship.
