The Baltimore Ravens

Coming off an incredible 13-4 season and having the MVP in Lamar Jackson the Ravens look to bolster both sides of the ball to compete not just inside the division but with the villain of the AFC now in the Chiefs. While having Lamar Jackson is always going to fare well for the Ravens, they knew with their off-season losses it would be crucial to hit in this draft if they wanted to remain a top contender so let’s do a dive into their first four rounds of the 2024 class and provide a grade to it.

At pick 30 in round one they took Nate Wiggins out of Clemson. Nate was someone I felt that could have gone a lot earlier and no one would have batted an eye. In 27 games played, Wiggins only allowed 2 touchdowns in his career at Clemson, easily making him a top prospect going into this draft. With Marlon Humphrey having some injury concerns each year, Wiggins adds a youthful look to accompany stand out safety Kyle Hamilton.

Coming in at pick 62 Roger Rosengarten was selected out of Washington. After losing Kevin Zeitler, Morgan Moses and John Simpson it was imperative that they addressed the O-Line early, especially with the great acquisition of Derrick Henry. Being a part of a great Washington team and having over 27 games started, Rosengarten provides a great level of experience and is only 21 years old. Sitting at 6’5, 300 pounds doesn’t hurt either when you want to play bully ball.

With pick 93 out of Penn-State the Ravens took Adisa Isaac. This personally is my favorite pick for the Ravens. It may go overlooked but Isaac had a long college career and came off his best season getting to the QB 7.5 times. Being a bit shadowed by Chop Robinson, losing Clowney it was a huge grab to go get an experienced kid in Isaac. Learning from the likes of Justin Madeubuike will bode very well for Isaac and help him have an impact as the season goes on.

The 113th pick Devontez Walker was a pick that I think makes sense for really only a team like the Ravens. Very raw talent and his route tree pairs well with Zay Flowers. Coming off a year where he dealt with the NCAA not letting him play due to the transfer from Kent State, Walker made the most of it hauling in 7 Touchdowns and gaining 699 yards. At 6 ‘3, 200 pounds it really seems like there is a ton of meat left on the bone with Walker and could be everything the Ravens need to stretch the field and take pressure off the box and spread the defense out.

Their last pick in the 4th round, at 130 the Ravens grabbed what some people are saying “the steal of the draft” in TJ Tampa. Appearing in 46 games the twenty two year old corner has seen plenty of ball. Tampa has great closing speed and has some looks to him like a safety, seeing the whole field after the ball is snapped. He was someone I felt slipped way too far and is a huge steal for the Ravens in the fourth round.

Overall, The Ravens did what they usually do and drafted well. They addressed the holes in their team but could have made some other choices in the later rounds. I think LB should have been addressed after losing Patrick Queen but having Roquan Smith will help anyone next to him this coming year. I would give the Ravens a very solid B+ in this draft. The future for the Ravens is going to always be bright with Lamar under center as I stated before but their expectations will continue to be a superbowl or bust for them.
