The Los Angeles Rams

A year where the Rams were not thought to be in any type of playoff picture due to lack of draft capital the previous years turned out to be one for the ages all things considered. There were some ups and downs but the team came together well and had a runner up for OROY Puka Nacua. This is the first year of my life that I wish they gave OROY to two players. Nonetheless the Rams showed holes and needed to improve so let’s see what they did with their first four picks and talk about the future for the Rams.

At 19 it was no surprise that Jared Verse (EDGE) was taken off the board. He could have been the first pass-rusher taken and I would have loved it either way. Verse decided to stay another year at Florida State and it made him a much better prospect. He was always going round one but having another year to get 11 sacks, 15 QB hits and 36 “Hurries” caught the eyes of probably everyone but the Rams needed him the most and he will be their guy with Donald retiring.

39 came as no shocker either, especially with Donald retiring there was a big hole and Braden Fiske (DT) will be tasked to fill that hole. Fiske shot up the boards at the combine with his crazy speed for his size and athletic ability. There is still some work to do of course but fiske’s 2022 season proved he can be a mauler given the opportunities.

Pick 83 was a necessary grab to back up Williams with Blake Corum (RB) getting that call. Having 56 rushing touchdowns in three years speaks for itself and if someone thinks Corum can’t play at the highest level is just hating to hate. Blake has one of the best jump cuts in this draft if not the best and will be a machine for the Rams. Given some injury history with Williams, Blake could see some early work.

The 99th pick Kamren Kinchens (S) brings a great level of ball production to the team that needs it. In 2023 the Rams only had 10 interceptions all year which ranked 23rd in the league. Kinchens hauled in 11 interceptions over the last two seasons and racked up almost 100 tackles over that span. He should be used deep because that’s where he is best and his body dimensions call for that.

The Rams needed to hit well in this draft with the loss of future hall of famer Aaron Donald and I think they did. They filled needed gaps in the defense and offense which earned them an A in their 2024 draft. The future for the Rams is bright with a solid foundation. I can see 11 wins coming from this team and a playoff win this year.
